How to Clear out Yellow Pollen!

Posted on April 15 2019

Here in NC, we know it is April by the coating of yellow dust from pine pollen on just about everything. This yellow dust actually has a sappy component which makes it stick to everything:  cars, windows, shoes, and even the dog!   The season of the pods opening and showering this pollen lasts about 2-4 weeks.   This wreaks havoc for anyone with allergies.   For those sensitive to this pesky pollen, they have to find creative ways to deal with it. Here’s what we do:

  • Keep the windows closed
  • Stay on top of dusting surfaces – you will notice the coating of yellow dust (yes even in the house!)
  • Use your air conditioner, even if it is not hot just to filter the air
  • Cover or bring in your patio cushions
  • Stay indoors on dry, windy days — the best time to go outside is after a good rain, which helps clear pollen from the air.
  • Delegate lawn mowing, weed pulling and other gardening chores that stir up allergens.
  • Remove clothes you’ve worn outside; you may also want to shower to rinse pollen from your skin and hair.
  • Don’t hang laundry outside — pollen can stick to sheets and towels.
  • Wear a dust mask if you do outside chores.

Now that the season is coming to a close… there are a few awesome things you can do to clear the air inside and out. I have discovered a really good Air Revitalizer that eliminates odors, reduces airborne allergens (including mold spores), bacteria, and pollutants in poorly ventilated rooms. This safe and affordable solution brings fresh air into children’s rest and play areas, kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and living spaces. It’s also a great alternative for anyone with asthma, allergies, or breathing difficulties. way to detoxifying! Click Here to learn more.
